Dayle Wood Memorial Scholarship

The Dayle Wood Memorial Scholarship was established in 1988. Dayle Wood was an outstanding young man whose life was tragically cut short in 1962 when he was killed in a car accident. Dayle’s aunt, LaVerne Bish of Lincoln, established this scholarship in his name to assist graduating seniors from Palmyra High School. Dayle was a promising leader in his 20 years of life through his service and commitment to others. He served many people and organizations including his church, community and family. At the time of his death, Dayle was pursuing a degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University where he was the manager of the baseball and basketball teams.

To apply, you must be a current graduating senior of Palmyra High School, Palmyra, Nebraska. The applicant must demonstrate scholastic application and achievement and intend to continue his/her education. Financial need will be utilized only as a tie-breaker in scholarship selection. Funding will not be distributed until the start of the student’s sophomore year.
