Evelyn Reid Scholarship

Evelyn Reid established this scholarship in 2017 for high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in education or the medical field.

Evelyn was diagnosed in 2015 with cancer. Through the course of her treatments, she was so grateful for the many kind and skilled medical staff who attended to her throughout her five years of battling cancer. In addition, she was so appreciative to have incredible teachers in school, a son-in-law in public education administration, and a granddaughter who is now an English teacher. Thus, the reason for her interest to create this scholarship fund for future educators and medical professionals.

Evelyn was a lifelong Lincoln-area resident, a homemaker providing daycare during her children’s early years, and finished her career as a professional for a local printing company. Evelyn lived a very modest lifestyle and was so immensely proud to be able to provide this scholarship for future generations. Before Evelyn died in 2020, she was so pleased to see her scholarship awarded to support students pursuing an area of interest she felt very close to her heart.
