Ethel M. Johnson Scholarship

The Ethel M. Johnson Scholarship was established in 1986 to benefit students at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. Ethel M. Johnson spent her life dedicated to education, either as a teacher or a student exploring the world. She attended Jamestown City Schools, Bethany College and the University of Kansas. She took additional courses at the University of Colorado in pursuit of a Ph.D. Ethel taught high school and college before becoming the dean of women at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, in 1946. In 1949, Ethel joined the English department at Bethany College. She later served as dean of women at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Ethel’s love of learning and teaching lives on in this scholarship.
