Charles E. Jones Scholarship

The Charles E. Jones Scholarship was established in 1989. The late Charles E. Jones spent his life in school. A graduate of Cardozo High School in Washington, D.C., Dr. Jones earned a degree in elementary education from UNL in 1964 and a Masters degree in social work from the University of Missouri in 1970. He returned to Lincoln and earned his Ph.D. from UNL in education administration. Dr. Jones was the assistant dean of the College of Education at Ohio State University and an assistant professor of social work at UNO. In 1978, Dr. Jones became vice principal of Lincoln High School. He found his time spent at Lincoln High to be the most rewarding point of his career. Cancer took his life in 1989.
