Our Opportunities

Welcome to the Lincoln Community Foundation Scholarship Opportunities Homepage.

Below you will find a listing of scholarships available to students along with brief information about each scholarship and its criteria. This allows you to research those opportunities for which you may be eligible. Take special note if an opportunity requires (a) reference(s). (See bottom of this page.)

If this is your first visit to this page, click “Sign Up” to begin. After you provide your e-mail address as your username and create a password, you click “Sign Up” at the bottom of the form. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with a link. Click on the link and then click “Apply”. Then you may begin your application form, save it and come back to it at any time to edit/update until the deadline. Each time you return to the site you will click “Sign In”.

Based on information provided in the General application form, when students click “Finish and Submit” they are automatically applied to Scholarships for which they are fully eligible. These are “Auto-Match” scholarships and you do not need to answer additional questions. You will see their specific folders later on the “My Applications” tab of your account. A current transcript and first page of the FAFSA report with your EFC (Expected Family Contribution) are required for all applications. FAFSA reports denoted as Confirmed will not be accepted. They must read" Processed Information" or “Approved Form”.

After you submit your General Application, go to the “Recommended Opportunities” Tab on your account.

On the “Recommended Opportunities” tab there are Scholarships which require additional information beyond the transcript and FAFSA first page. These are not “Auto-Match.” They are called “Apply-To” Opportunities, and can be seen on the account’s “Recommended Opportunities” Tab after the General application form is submitted. Please read the information and criteria carefully to determine if you are eligible for these “Apply-To” Scholarships. “Recommended” does not mean that you are necessarily eligible. To apply for these opportunities, students must click on the “Apply” button beside the specific scholarship to finish and submit. These opportunities may require references, answers to additional questions, special essays or other documentation. When you click on the “Apply” button of an opportunity you will see the additional fields to answer questions, upload documents and fill in the names and addresses of your references. Folders for “Apply-To” and “Auto-Match” opportunities will appear on the student’s “My Applications” tab.

NOTE: References will automatically receive a link instructing them to write a letter of reference directly within the system. Plan ahead! References cannot be submitted after the opportunity end date/deadline. You must allow your reference person(s) enough time to submit!

There are also three “External” opportunities that are found by selecting “External” from your Opportunities Tab drop-down. These Opportunities are for very specific applicant groups and provide information on how and where to apply. These do not use the online application form provided on this website. Nixon – for NE library employees. Watters- for dependents of NE Petroleum Marketer employees. Wright – for UNL College of Education and Human Sciences students.
